On 14 March 2023, the UK Medicines regulator approved an application to reclassify the inhaler cardholder’s Ventolin CFC-free inhaler from a generic equivalent of Pfizer’s Salmeterol. This review and the subsequent assessment have resulted in the reclassification of inhaler cardsholder’s Ventolin CFC-free inhaler as a generic equivalent of Pfizer’s Salmeterol. The application was confirmed by the MHRA on 14 September 2023.
The application is being reviewed by the MHRA, who are then able to assess the potential benefits and risks of reclassifying inhaler cardsholder’s Ventolin CFC-free inhaler as a generic equivalent of Pfizer’s Salmeterol. The review will take place over a 12-month duration, following the application’s outcome.
The application will be monitored throughout the review process. It is expected that the MHRA will continue to monitor the application and will also monitor the outcome of the review.
The reclassification application was submitted to the MHRA on 14 September 2023 following the review. The MHRA will continue to monitor the reclassification application, and will report any changes to the application to the appropriate MHRA. The application’s outcome will be monitored throughout the review process.
